Eastern Europeans

www.visalondon.com

A number of Eastern European countries have Association Agreements with the European Community. These agreements allow nationals of these countries to establish themselves in business on a preferential basis.
The countries that involved are Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. Nationals of all these countries may establish enterprises as companies. All except nationals of Slovenia may choose to be self-employed or enter into partnerships.
Generally, the rules are similar to other nationals wishing to establish in business in the United Kingdom with two important concessions.
1.) The requirement to introduce capital of GBP200,000 is waived.
2.) The requirement to employ members of the resident labour force is waived.
This category is particular suitable for Eastern European nationals with highly marketable skills but little capital resources. Many may find consultancy roles in the increasingly flexible United Kingdom labour market.
If you have any specific questions regarding immigration and establishing in business in the United Kingdom under the EU Association Agreements, please email business@visalondon.com or use our general enquiry form.
