Schooling
www.visalondon.comOverseas children may attend
independent fee paying schools in the United Kingdom so long as the school
meets the requirements of the Education Act of 1944 and that the studies will
be full-time.
Private education is expensive in the United Kingdom but many successful
students continue to University and benefit from having had earlier education
here. Parents of children under the age of 12 may accompany the children so
long as they have the means to do so and do not intend to make this country
their main home.
Children of persons here in a long-term capacity are normally accepted into
state schools. This is due to local education authorities and parents having an
obligation to ensure those children receive education. These provisions may be
of particular interest to work permit holders who are uncertain as to whether
their income will be sufficient to have their children educated privately in
the United Kingdom.
If you have a specific question regarding immigration and schooling in the
United Kingdom, please email personal@visalondon.com or use our general enquiry form.
