Work Permits

www.visalondon.com
The United Kingdom work permit scheme is entirely discretionary. The Secretary of State (the Home Secretary) may allow employers to engage workers who are not EEA (European Economic Area) nationals. The scheme is divided into four main groups:
  • Business and commercial
  • Sports people and entertainers
  • Training and work experience (TWES)
  • Sector based schemes (SBS) - We do not currently provide assistance with this type of application.

Applications are made by employers, not employees! It is not possible for an overseas worker to apply for a work permit although certain individuals with high levels of skills and experience may qualify under the Highly Skilled Migrant's Programme.
Holding a work permit or another type of 'Immigration Employment Document' does not guarantee entry clearance, leave to enter or leave to remain. This must be applied for separately by the worker.
