Entry clearance
www.visalondon.comEntry clearance is permission
to travel to the United Kingdom granted to certain nationals (visa nationals)
whatever their purpose of travel, and to all nationalities travelling for
certain purposes.
There are two types of Entry Clearance - Visas and Entry Certificates. There
are historical reasons for this. No commonwealth citizens were subject to visa
requirements until the 1980's although some did require entry clearance in
certain circumstances. They were issued with entry certificates. Other non-visa
nationals requiring entry clearance were issued with letters of consent. These
are no longer issued.
Currently visa nationals are issued with visas and non-visa nationals are
issued with entry certificates. Click here
for the current list of visa nationals.
A table of categories of non-visa nationals requiring entry clearance will
appear here shortly. In the meantime, if you wish to know whether you require
entry clearance or have a specific question regarding entry clearance please
email visas@visalondon.com or use our general
enquiry form.
