Extensions and variations of stay
www.visalondon.com
If you have a current leave to enter (or remain) in the United Kingdom, you
may apply for it to be extended or varied. Applications for extensions and
variations are made to the Immigration and Nationality Directorate (IND) in
Croydon. There are regional offices with limited facilities at Belfast,
Birmingham, Glasgow and Liverpool.
Certain straightforward applications may be made in person and determined
immediately. If you decide to make an application in person, particularly in
Croydon, please be mindful that the queues can be long and there is no
guarantee of a positive outcome.
Applications are considered against the Immigration Rules and IND policy
guidelines.
Recent changes in legislation have made persons who obtain extensions or
variations by deception liable to administrative removal and detention so you
are advised to ensure to be frank and honest in making applications.
For some years now, applications have had to be made on specified forms in most
cases, and will be treated as invalid if they are not accompanied by
appropriate documents. You may wish to consider taking advice before applying
for an extension or variation of leave.
If you do have any specific questions regarding extensions or variations of
leave to enter or remain, please email general@visalondon.com or use our
general enquiry form.
